Many riders want to feel harmony and connection with their horse when they ride and this can draw them to want to learn about their Chi or energy, because they believe in some way that it will deepen their partnership with their horse.
Sometimes riders who are sensitive may feel there’s a sense of separation or something lacking in their partnership with their horse, or they can’t quite connect with their horse in some way, but they can’t quite put their finger on it.
Horses are highly sensitive energetic beings. They’re masters at reading energy.
They can feel inside us.
They can be even more aware of our energy than we are of it ourselves!
But as well as this horses can perceive and connect on the Chi level of energy which is a more subtle way of connecting than physical connection.
People are not generally aware that this type of Chi level connection exists, let alone that it’s possible to develop themselves so they can connect with their horse at this deeper energetic level when they’re riding.
Physical and emotional and mental connection or sometimes spiritual connection are often talked about, but not many people know about Chi connection, or that the horse loves to connect with us in this way!
The sense of separation that we feel from our horse may be because we’re not able to connect with our horse internally at the level of Chi energy, that he is able to connect with us on, and this is causing an imbalance in our partnership and a feeling that there’s something lacking.
Because we are not connecting with the horse from inside us, we cannot feel in us what he can feel in us.
We use physical aids to tell the horse what to do, but we are not using our energy.
Our horses are so subtle and so intuitive to energy they can even perceive the the nuances of the layers of our energy. Most humans do not have this sensitivity.
We are not fully experiencing a connection with them because there is a whole aspect of our energy that we are not able to connect with them on – we are not connecting with them in the subtle way that they could understand us through our energy, meaning we could use less of the physical and more energetic.
This is such a shame for horses I think, as they are not seen for how highly developed they are, and the reason is that we are not highly developed enough to be able to feel this!
What I love to do is to train riders to open and develop and awaken their energy so they can operate from and connect from a deeper place inside themselves that the horse is not separate from. I do this through Equestrian Tai Chi which is Tai Chi I developed from regular Tai Chi for performance on horseback and in which I infused the framework for opening and developing the riders energy and though a series of specialised energy exercises for riding.
This is done in a safe and gradual way, and is based on my own experience in learning and exploring Chi, consciousness and connection with horses, and on my training in Taoist Methods, many of which are thousands of years old.
This reduces the separation between the horse and rider and gives the horse a chance to shine and to be appreciated for his talent and ability.
We judge our horses for many things, but do we ever see them for how clever they are energetically. This is something that can be felt not seen, and horses are masters at feeling.
